I would have been disappointed and worried no matter who won.
My concern about Trump’s victory is not only for Israel but also for the United States and the world.
I will not list all the questions and reservations I have. If I were an American I might be worried about the health care situation, the immigration situation, the trade situation, and the question of American decline etc.etc..
I think Israelis have to be worried about the security situation considering his inexperience and his isolationist- tendency.
There is something positive in the fact that he seems likely to appoint very pro- Israel people to senior defense and foreign policy positions.
Also his Vice- President is a strongly pro-Israel person.
But I would agree very much with the major point made here about no one really knowing.
As for our hoping for Trump’s gaining wisdom and knowledge , and greater sense of responsibility in office that might well happen. This too could mean he becomes more ‘ realistic’ in foreign policy and joins the gang of the world against Israel.
I also would not shrug off the radical right elements among his supporters. They might become stronger should things not go well for him.
Again no one really knows.
