Comment on Wedeman’s World: Israel, not Hamas or Fatah, Cause of Palestinian Suffering by Paul Solomon

I write as a Zionist who served in Nahal 1965-67. Although Arabs don’t create equal democratic civil societies that respect human rights, the Arabs of Palestine (or greater Syria if you prefer) still have human rights including the right to self-determination, Even if they don’t create countries that Western liberals could approve of. So what is to be done, if we want to support the survival of a Jewish state in the Middle East? IMO Israel should continue to defend its existence by military force if required, while assiduously supporting humane and respectful treatment of all Arabs, (work to be done here) and patiently waiting for every sign of Arab willingness to have a respectful conversation one blessed day. And long may Richard Landes continue to give us his clear view of a complex reality
